Shepherd's Gutter, New Forest
Shepherd's Gutter, New Forest
The stream known as Shepherd's Gutter runs in a contorted, meandering course, its bed deeply incised into gravel deposits. In September 2012, even though we'd had a notoriously wet summer, the 'gutter' was not so much a stream as a series of pools, separated by stretches of dry streambed. Not an easy feature to photograph, running as it does through woodland and holly thickets. Compare Jim Champion's contribution: LinkExternal link
