TQ2668 : Snuff Mill, Morden Hall Park

taken 6 years ago, near to Morden, Merton, Great Britain

Snuff Mill, Morden Hall Park
Snuff Mill, Morden Hall Park
The mill is on the River Wandle and was used for grinding tobacco leaves into snuff.
The building on the left dates from 1750 and worked up until 1922. Paddles have recently been restored to the waterwheel (see LinkExternal link for an earlier picture). However, it is not feasible to bring it into working order.
The building on the right was built in about 1830 and the location of its waterwheel is clearly visible.
Now owned by the National Trust and Grade II listed.
