Autumn Crocus (Colchicum autumnale), Norwick
Also known as Meadow Saffron, this species is native in Britain, but not in Shetland. In grows in a few places outside gardens on Unst, presumably as an outcast or garden relic. Here is it growing beneath sycamores in a small plantation which was formerly a kaleyard, and the method of arrival of the plant is unexplained.
