The Peacock Inn in Oakerthorpe
The Peacock Inn in Oakerthorpe
Historic coaching inn situated at the junction of three old turnpike roads. Legend associates this pub with Dick Turpin who hid out here with his steed Black Bess in a secret stable behind the pub but there's also a lost tunnel built by monks and connecting the cellar with Wingfield Hall. Richard Felix famously lost his bottle (twice) while exploring this tunnel in his 'Haunted Derbyshire' documentaries.
