Rockery in Kilver Court
The gardens were originally created in the nineteenth century by an unusually caring industrialist Ernest Jardine for the benefit of his workers; the area was one where they could be inspired and also had vegetable plots to grow food. The gardens were bought by the Showerings family and in the 1960s were extensively replanted. Having been inspired themselves by the Chelsea Flower Show, they engaged the services of George Whitelegg to create what became a gold medal winning rockery. See ST6243 : Kilver Court for more views.
