Ramparts of the enclosed settlement can be seen on the hilltop NT9815 : Enclosed settlement, Hartside Hill

The old walls in the foreground are part of the remains of a later Romano-British settlement of possibly two ages, the earlier of rounded boundaries, the later more rectangular. 12 enclosures have been identified and approximately 6 hut circles, striking in aerial view LinkExternal link
A likely medieval period farmstead lies just to the south separated by modern walls of a sheepfold.
