Oxford Canal: Bridge Number 11: Cater's Bridge, taken 5 years ago
Cater's Bridge is by Brookfield Farm and, despite being in a somewhat dilapidated state with a significant section of its parapet missing, is a Grade II Listed Structure. There is some disagreement over the name of the bridge. All old and new OS maps, except the 1:25,000 series, have Cater's, as does the National Heritage website. Only the current OS 1:25,000 series and the current (2012) Nicholson's Waterways Guide have the alternative Carter's, suggesting a misreading of the original maps by the OS, which was then perpetrated by Nicholson's who use this series in their books.
