The recumbent alabaster effigies of Sir John Stawell (1603) and his wife.
Sir John Stawell (1536-1603) was one of the most active men in the country in opposing the Spanish Armada. It was said at the time that Sir John was instrumental in the training of 1000 Somerset men for the fight, and contributed 100 to the defence of the country.
