South cairn, Coldsmouth Hill
South cairn, Coldsmouth Hill
The southern of the two Bronze Age cairns on Coldsmouth Hill was excavated in 1929. A burial cist at the centre contained human bones and a flint-made thumb scrapper. A second burial cist was located outside the cairn to the south-west.
Two rings of stone enclose a horseshoe shaped arc of stones, where the central cist was found. Two modern cairns have been built from the stones.
