TF0738 : Jubilee seat
taken 11 years ago, near to Osbournby, Lincolnshire, England
When the much loved Chestnut tree in the village was felled they decided to re-plant it, and to create this carved seat to celebrate the Royal Jubilee.
Each panel was carved by a separate individual from the village, most of whom were new to woodcarving. The basic outline was inspired by the carved oak pew -ends (TF0638 : Poppy-head, Church of St Peter and St Paul, TF0638 : Detail, Church of St Peter and St Paul, TF0638 : Oak Pew End, SS Peter & Paul church, Osbournby) in the Village Church (TF0638 : St Peter & St Paul Church, Osbournby, TF0638 : Church of St Peter and St Paul, Osbournby) which is where the carving sessions were held.
The work is described at Link which has a link to a photogallery of the work in progress.
