THE
ENGLISH BRIDGE
WAS BVILT IN 1768-1774
ON THE SITE OF AN EARLIER BRIDGE
IN 1925-27 IT WAS TAKEN DOWN
AND COMPLETELY REBVILT,
ITS STEEP GRADIENT HALVED,
ITS WIDTH INCREASED BY 26 FEET
AND EVERY SOVND STONE
IN THE ORIGINAL STRVCTVRE REVSED.
THE BRIDGE WAS OPENED BY
HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN
ON THE 13TH AVGVST 1927
