Craig-y-bela Cottage
Craig-y-bela Cottage
A number of house names in this area of Fachwen have the suffix 'bela'. A bela is a pine marten, a creature once very common in this rocky terrain. Craig-y-bela means 'marten crag'. Some of the other house names are Bryn y bela ('marten hill') and Rhos-y-bela ('marten heath').
