White Swan House
White Swan House
The name commemorates the former role of the building as the White Swan Inn. Other former uses of this 18th century building were as the Godstone poor House, then as "dame school" (i.e. a private infants' school in which children were taught the 3 Rs by a woman in her own home) and later a lodging house. It became a pub in 1888 and ceased to be so in 1984. It is now used as offices. Locally listed.
