Alford Windmill - stone floor
Alford Windmill - stone floor
A view of the stone floor with the great spur wheel above. Four stones sit in the room, usually mills have 2 or three. The most powerful had four or more, as seen here and Maud Foster/Heckington. This mill has an iron shaft unlike Ullesthorpe where I visited yesterday.
Alford Windmill - Lincolnshire
The large Lincolnshire mill built in 1837 by the well-known local millwright John Oxley. It ran until 1955 when milling technologies had made windmills redundant.
