NC5126 : Burn diverted by concrete barrier

near to Crask, The [hill or Mountain], Highland, Great Britain

Burn diverted by concrete barrier
Burn diverted by concrete barrier
The burn or ditch here has been canalised, and the water flows south into Strath Tirry. My older 1958 map shows the burns from the hill carrying on eastwards at this point and gradually heading north to Strath Vagastie. In other words, the ditch and the concrete barrier are part of a scheme to divert the water south instead of north. It is part of the Shin Hydro-electric scheme. See page 9 of LinkExternal link
