Bridge over the Long Eau by Manor Farm
Bridge over the Long Eau by Manor Farm
This footbridge is interesting in that it has a span of 12m yet it is light, functional and looks relatively inexpensive.
There are footpaths is nearby areas that have modern wooden footbridges, and one that has none (and a climb down a weed infested steep bank and a paddle through the ditch). The footpath authority has said that a (modern wooden) wooden bridge would cost about 30,000, so it the path wait its turn, and is near the bottom of the list.
The obvious thought is, why can't we have one of these lightweight bridges? Have they been declared unfit for the job? Must they now be able to take the weight of 30 ramblers at a time, and perhaps a pet elephant on a leash?
