NY4716 : Old Boundary Stone, Low Kop

4 km from Dale Head, Cumbria, Great Britain

Old Boundary Stone, Low Kop
Old Boundary Stone, Low Kop
The weathered stone is quite small and easily overlooked. A brief inspection showed no signs of inscriptions and no clues as to which old boundary it sits on. It does not appear to be a parish boundary so may be a marker between landowners' estates. The rock appears to be sandstone and so may have been brought in from elsewhere (the local geology is volcanic ashes and lavas).
