Roadside stone with a view
Roadside stone with a view
The stone is inscribed LM 1835. From evidence given regarding a nearby stone called Emmet's Post, this would appear to be a boundary marker between the land of Lord Morley, Lee Moor, this side, and Sir Massey Lopes, Shaugh Moor, that side. The other side is slightly different, see SX5663 : Boundary stone by the roadside
Beyond, moorland dips gently towards the Blacka Brook, a tributary of the River Plym, with Trowlesworthy Warren House in the trees beyond SX5664
