A farmer's grave?
A farmer's grave?
This charming tombstone in Kilbrannan Chapel graveyard depicts a ploughman behind a team of four horses. There is an inscription on the other side - according to Canmore website LinkExternal link it is the grave of Angus McKinnin from Strone (there is some confusion about the date, they have given 1739 and 1793 in different parts of the article).
There is at least one other gravestone here with symbols of the person's occupation, from about the same era LinkExternal link . The skull and crossbones was another popular symbol, as seen on the stone to the left, which also has an hourglass.
