Morton Drove and Morton Fen
Morton Drove and Morton Fen
Each of the villages between Bourne and Heckington, a distance of some 15 miles, almost without exception has a road leading out onto the fen named after its village and terminating at the South Forty Foot Drain. Morton is the next village but one north of Bourne (after Dyke) and has two roads heading out on to Morton Fen and stopping at the South Forty Foot Drain. Morton Drove is the southern of these two roads and this is at the far end, next to Forty Foot Farm. The condition of the road has deteriorated somewhat out here and it shows the familiar Fenland problem of subsidence. This view looks back in the direction of Morton.
