Salt End Sewage Works
Yorkshire Water's huge 'Waste Water Treatment Works' on Hull Road, Preston, seen from the top of the embankment on Hull Road flyover. Surrounded by an earth bank planted with many young trees, it is presumably hoped the site will go almost unnoticed in the future. Yorkshire Water have requested planning permission to build a wind generator here which seems oddly appropriate. The technology is state of the art apparently but the place still smells pretty awful at times.
