Wet seat on the Granite Way
Wet seat on the Granite Way
A new granite bench near the southern end of Lake Viaduct on the cycleway that follows the disused Okehampton - Tavistock railway line. In the background, just this side of the two sheep sunning themselves on the track, a fork left takes cyclists back under the viaduct and down to cross the A386.
Granite Way
The Granite Way is a 9-mile cycle route, most of it along the former railway line between Okehampton and Lydford, and opened in May 2002. It forms part of NCN27, and makes use of impressive viaducts at Meldon and Lake. The route runs along the northwest edge of the Dartmoor National Park, and the two viaducts offer views of the moor.

Until 2013, the railway route was broken near Southerly, using lanes to cross the A386. This gap was filled in late 2013.
