SK2957 : Willersley Castle, staircase

taken 6 years ago, near to Cromford, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Willersley Castle, staircase
Willersley Castle, staircase
A fine house, overlooking the Derwent at Cromford, built for Richard Arlwright, though he never actually lived in the house. The first house here was burnt down before it was completed, and Arkwright did not live long enough to see the completion of this one. The house, with this splendid staircase, Adam fireplaces and carving and cornices, is now a guest-house.
