Beacon Tarn
Beacon Tarn
Blawith Beacon in view which was formerly known as Torver Beacon. Heaton Cooper states these Beacons as used to mobilise the men of the area against the raiding Scots and latterly for summoning the men of Furness for service in the battle of Flodden in 1513. Low Beacons like the one here were used when the ones on the higher fells were in cloud.
