Cairn on Creag Mhigeachaidh
This cairn, far from a summit appears quite recent, as the granite is still a bright red and there is little lichen growth. The red granite gives these hills their name, although the "blue" Cairngorms is more usually used. Now however there is a Cairngorm National Park, stretching far from the "old Cairngorms" so for precision, I continue to use Monadh Ruadh when referring specifically to the great granite massif itself.
