Mallards sculpture, Ross-on-Wye
Mallards sculpture, Ross-on-Wye
Located between Wye Street and the River Wye. The sculpture named Mallards is a 1997 work by Walenty Pytel. It depicts three mallards in flight in close formation, their wings spread. The steel used in fabricating the sculpture was pierced to imitate the patterning of a mallard. The mallards are raised high above the ground on a tall square sectioned pole. Walenty Pytel entered a competition promoted by the Arts magazine for 3 sculptures. He won all 3, producing this and 2 other works in Ross-on-Wye.
