Denny Island is on the southern edge of the Bedwin Sands, part of the Welsh Grounds, a huge complex of sandbanks in the Bristol Channel. About 3 miles north of Portishead, the island lies across the border between ST4580 and ST4581. The photo was taken at about 7.30 on a raw November morning, from a boat collecting samples of sand and mud.
