Ancient stone-walled enclosures
Ancient stone-walled enclosures
This network of stone walls appears on the 1:50000 map as a 'Settlement' and on the 1:25000 map as 'Enclosures'. There was definitely human activity at this remote spot at 450 metres altitude in the distant past; some of the walls are substantial and well preserved. The changeable nature of mountain weather is well shown by contrasting this image with that of the summit in SO0813 that was taken less than an hour later. The ribs on the distant flanks of Garn Felen are formed from layers of limestone dipping gently to the south (right of image).
