Spitalfields Market Horner Buildings
Spitalfields Market Horner Buildings
No longer selling wholesale fruit and vegetable, the market is especially popular with shoppers and browsers on a Sunday morning, searching the stalls for unusual food, craft and fashion items.
The plaque over the main entrance here in Commercial Street informs us that this end of the market was rebuilt by Robert Horner in 1887, the year of Queen Victoria's Jubilee. The market was originally established by Charles II in 1638.
