Bohemian Waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus), Baltasound
Waxwings breed in northern Europe. They are insectivorous in the summer, but feed on berries in autumn and winter. If the berry crop is poor in Scandinavia then large numbers irrupt and may arrive in Britain. The numbers in Shetland in 2012 have been larger than in any other year apart from 2004.
