An Arctic bramble
An Arctic bramble
Cloudberry (Rubus chamaemorus) is a very hardy plant, It is found in bogs, and I have seen it at 78 North. It is a prized food in Norway and bogs are jealously guarded in season. Many folk here think its inedible, but that is due to confusion. This berry is red when unripe, and turns yellow when ready to eat. A familiar plant in boggy moorland. Very much a bramble, with similar white flowers, rough leaves, but no thorns.
