A splendid Georgian building, derelict for many years; see SJ3989 : Wavertree Town Hall.
In 1880 Liverpool was designated a city. In 1893 the title of Lord Mayor was conferred, and in 1895 the city boundaries were extended to include several areas, including Wavertree and neighbouring Toxteth. The building is now for sale.
