Replica Newcomen engine - stoking the boiler
The Black Country Living Museum had just recommissioned the replica Newcomen engine to celebrate the tercentenary of the celebrated Dudley Castle Newcomen engine. The boiler is externally fired with 'wheel draught' and was originally copper and lead. It is now a welded steel replica.
