Blists Hill Victorian Town - an eye on the water level
This 1959 Farrar vertical boiler supplies steam to the colliery winding engine. The driver kindly opened the door and posed for me. There are good reasons for keeping the door closed for as much of the time as possible (it makes more economic use of the coal and prevents cold air stressing the boiler).
