The Horse & Jockey Inn (2) - sign, Wylcwm Street, Knighton, Powys

Although this inn has been in business since the 14th century, it is almost certain that it originally had a different name or names. The use of the word jockey for a person who rides horses in races is first recorded in 1670, three hundred or so years after the inn opened!

The sign is attached to the inn's front wall and is unfortunately partly obscured by vegetation.
