Derelict colliery building near Talywain
Derelict colliery building near Talywain
A remnant of the old Cwmsychan Colliery I believe. This small mine was one of four shafts sunk locally in the 1860's and closed in the 1930's, with one 500 foot shaft being in-filled in the early 1960's.

Apparently 17 miners lost their lives in this mine over those years, all the result of roof falls I believe. Here's to them. RIP.
