How places change! The first Ordnance Survey map 1888-90 shows the substantial Oakford Farm in this area but it had disappeared from the 1936 map. There was rough grass and just to the north an omnibus depot had appeared. It was more extensive on the 1956 map. More recent maps show vacant land at this north end of the Newton Road.
