The 'lefal' and up-haulage incline on the old reduction level of the Cook Quarry
This 'lefal' or tunnel connected with the pit. Rock brought out through the 'lefal' was until the early 1890s dealt with mainly on the old reduction level. The construction of the steam mill in the 1890s, the gable end of which can be seen at the top of the photo, necessitated the construction of an up-haulage incline to transport rock to the mill.
