The path forms the border and is designated a bridleway which suggests that it is nominally on the English side. The view is along the border ridge towards Windy Rig. The land is more grassy and better drained on this side of Windy Gyle. To the east the ridge is very wet and rough, all the way to the notorious Cheviot itself.
