SS Great Britain, Bristol
I K Brunel's first iron hulled transatlantic screw steamer that has returned to the dock where it was built in 1843 (laid down in 1839). Conceived as a paddle steamer, Brunel was convinced of the efficacy of the screw in time to change horses mid-stream. The vessel is a major tourist atteaction and well worth a visit if you are interested in Britain's proud maritime heritage.
