Interior of St. Swithun's Church (2) - looking towards the organ, Church Street, Worcester
The church is tucked away in the centre of the City and since 1977 has been in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust, a registered charity. The organ is quite remarkable for being the most complete remaining example from the Gray brothers' workshop in London. The organ dates from 1795, the same year that Robert and William Gray were commissioned to build a new organ for the Inigo Jones church of St Paul in London’s Covent Garden. Very few church organs from the 18th century remain in existence which are significantly unaltered. The organ was restored in 2010. During the year a number of organ recitals are held here, which are open to the public.
