Ontario House
Ontario House
Ontario House stands at the eastern end of Ontario Basin at Salford Quays (the redeveloped Manchester and Salford Docks). It was built in 1990 and is let to the (govermnment) Department of Work and Pensions, currently housing the Job Centre.

In front of the office block, are the two iconic dockyard cranes which symbolise the area’s former use. The cranes, which were first erected in 1966 on South Dock 6, were decommissioned and moved to their current position in 1988. Unfortunately they are now rusting badly, have become unsafe and have been fenced off. It is probable that they will be demolished early in 2013 (LinkExternal link Manchester Evening News).
