Quays Crane
Quays Crane
One of the two iconic dockyard cranes, which symbolise the area’s former use as Manchester Docks and have become a landmark at Salford Quays.

The cranes, which were first erected in 1966 on South Dock 6, were decommissioned and moved to their current position at the eastern end of Ontario Basin, in 1988. Unfortunately they are now rusting badly, have become unsafe and have been fenced off. It is probable that they will be demolished early in 2013 (LinkExternal link Manchester Evening News).
