Old Dockyard Cranes at Salford Quays
Old Dockyard Cranes at Salford Quays
The two iconic dockyard cranes have become something of a landmark at Salford Quays, symbolising the area’s former use as Manchester Docks.

The cranes, which were first erected in 1966 on South Dock 6, were decommissioned and moved to their current position at the eastern end of Ontario Basin, in 1988. Unfortunately they are now rusting badly, have become unsafe and have been fenced off. It is probable that they will be demolished early in 2013 (LinkExternal link Manchester Evening News).
