Posing at the Shell Seat, Mount Edgcumbe
The Shell Seat is a grotto by any other name, a favourite feature of 18th and 19th-century gardens. It is on the south side of the restored Earl's Garden on the hillside behind Mount Edgcumbe House. It is "richly encrusted with exotic shells, fossils and corals and dates from c.1770."
