This grade II listed (Link
British Listed Buildings) house on Belmont Road overlooks Springs Reservoir. It was built in 1824 for Bolton Corporation Waterworks.
The front gable end contains a relief plaque which shows a seated female figure pouring water into a vessel held by a child, below which are the words:

ESTABLISHED AD1824
The design is echoed by a larger plaque on the wall adjoining the road.
