Featherstone Castle through the trees
Featherstone Castle through the trees
Now a country house and Grade I listed with English Heritage Building ID: 240698. It started life as an early 13th C hall-house and this is now incorporated into the west range. There is also an early 14th C south-west tower and 17th C alterations from early in the century. The whole was renovated and extended between 1812-30 for Thomas Wallace. The view is taken from Hall Bank; high ground to the east which hardly improves the defensibility of the castle!
