St Mary the Virgin, Orlestone
St Mary the Virgin, Orlestone
Grade II listed.

The church dates from the late 12th to the early 13th century, it was altered in the 14th century, and restored in 1883.
It is built from ragstone with a plain tiled roof. It has chancel, nave, shingled bell turret and a western porch.
The roof consists of crown posts on moulded tie beams, all much restored in the 19th century. There are only fragments of masonry on the west wall dating back to the late 12th century.
In 1973, a large crack was found running down the East wall. It was attributed to subsidence, and experts declared that the church was unsafe. The church was no longer used. Funds were raised, and the restoration work has been very nearly completed. The church is now open again and used regularly for worship.
