Manchester Christmas Market Outside the Town Hall
Probably the largest (certainly the most crowded) section of the Manchester Christmas Markets is in Albert Square; in front of the Grade I listed, Victorian Town Hall complete with its giant figure of Father Christmas over the entrance.
The Christmas markets first arrived in Manchester in 1998, when the council of Frankfurt hosted a small traditional German market of just 17 stalls in St Ann’s Square.
Now an annual event, the 2012 Christmas Market has an array of over 200 stalls spread across Albert Square, The Corn Exchange, Brazenose Street, King Street, St Ann's Square, Exchange Street, New Cathedral Street, Exchange Square and Piccadilly operating from 17th November to 23rd December.
