Road Construction Sign
Road Construction Sign
A large sign next to the gateway in SP9023 : View towards Whitefields giving information about a new road that is currently (early 2007) being built.
[Edit] The new road opened in Autumn 2007. The official opening seems to have been put back once or twice but finally occurred on 14th September 2007 from what I can gather. This fast dual-carriageway road has several quite small roundabouts dotted along its course. One foggy morning recently (late Sept 2008) this new road was closed because one of these roundabouts had been the scene of multiple accidents where drivers going too quickly in the fog (I would assume) had not realised that the roundabouts existed and had deposited themselves in various states of disrepair on the island - and from both directions. This would suggest that some better warning of the impending hazard needs to be supplied to prevent similar incidents in the future.
